Focusing On Your Writing

Being able to focus on your writing is very important. You have to make sure you have a schedule so you won't get lost in your book. As I have said, I took a long break from The Impenetrable Spy. When I revisited, my writing was a lot different. It is nice to have a set amount of time or word count to accomplish every day. I prefer 1,000 words or an hour. Set the writing time at a certain time each day and try to get it done.

Another thing is exercising your writing. If you can't write something for your book everyday, at least write a short story or an idea. This will greatly improve your writing, making it flow and sound much better. I write down ideas and map things out every day. Every day I get a little better at blog posting too. Why? Because I try to post something every day.

If you focus on your writing, it will become better and better. Please leave comments, they are much appreciated. Tell me what you think of these posts and whether they are helpful or not, and whether or not my new blog looks as good as my wordpress one.

  1. It is so refreshing reading your blog. I'd love to have 20 of you in my classroom. The conversations we could have wold be awesome. Setting a time for writing is often difficult for me. Between the school conferences during the summer and then teaching both during the day and after school it is difficult. It is something I have been working on this summer. I find if I get up between 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning I have the house to myself to write, everyone else is in bed. You are right about writing something every day. If I am having difficulty I will spend 5 minutes on the internet looking at pictures and then write about it. That usually gets my writing juices flowing.
